The Group of Polish Furniture Traders (Grupa Polskich Kupców Meblowych - GPKM)
was established in May 1996 by owners of big, professional sellers of furniture outlets and interior furnishings throughout Poland.
It started its operation in September 1996, including the establishment of an office in Kraków.
The guiding idea of GPKM was to join the efforts of its members in order to improve Polish commercial standards and establish business partnerships with manufacturers and suppliers of furniture as a traders' organisation.

The first partnership agreements were with the following companies:
in Poland: Wielkopolskie Fabryki Mebli w Obornikach - 1996,
abroad: Welle Möbel GmbH, Germany and Welle Diffusin S.A., France - 1997
Currently the Group's membership consists of 14 companies which have more than 40 furniture stores in 32 towns and cities (total area 140 thousand m2.) All furniture stores of GPKM members have a group logo on display.
